That 'quiet place' again

From Mrs Daphne McLeod
Sir, I am surprised to see Ms Yarwood attacking Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice on your Letters page because one of the Speakers at our recent Faith of our Fathers Conference drew attention to a particular school because it has a "Quiet Place Room" which could be used-to incorporate New Age Thinking.
Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice has a proud record, going back twenty years, of working to protect Catholic children from false catechetics and damaging lessons on sex. This can openly be done by informing parents and grandparents of the dangers their little ones are being exposed to. That is why we invited Michael Akerman, the country's acknowledged expert on the harm New Age can do to children and young people, to address the audience at Faith of our Fathers' 2002.
His talk, "Spiritual anarchy: the New Age Threat" was very well received and since the Conference I have had many calls and letters from parents who were grateful that they had been warned and would now be able to protect their children. Ms Yarwood admits in her letter that she is "not sure what New Age practices means". Perhaps she should get an audio tape of Michael Akerman's talk from CV Productions Tel 01328 864447 and when she has listened to it decide whether Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice were right to ask him to speak at Faith of our Fathers' 2002.
Yours sincerely, DAPHNE MCLEOD Great Bookham, Surrey
