CLERICAL APPOINTMENTS Soho's New Rector
Canon Joseph Reardon, rector of St. Patrick's, Wapping, E, has been appointed to succeed the late Canon John Dunford as rector of St. Patrick's, Soho. He is himself to be succeeded, at Wapping, by his brother, the Rev. Andrew Reardon, from Bow Common. The Rev. Frederick Dixon, assistant priest at St. John's, Islington, goes to Bow Common as rector.
The Rev. Joseph Haisall, Ph.D., D.C.L., has left Archbishop's House to take up work as Professor of Philosophy at St. Edmund's College, replacing the late Dr. Weldon. The Rev. Bernard Goode, who has been temporarily at the college, has been appointed permanently as teacher of Social Philosophy. The Rev. Arthur Reys is leaving St. Edmund's to become chaplain to the Sacred Heart convent at Hammersmith, and the Rev. Albert Purdie, 0.B.E., Ph.D., has been granted sick leave abroad, The Rev. Henry R. Kelly, D.D., hitherto Diocesan Treasurer and Secretary for the Diocese of Shrewsbury, has been appointed rector of St. Alban's, Macclesfield, in succession to the late Canon Cleary. Dr. Kelly, it is announced, will remain Treasurer, but his place as Secretary will be taken by the Rev. E. Doyle, who recently returned from Rome.
