New bishop named

LIVERPOOL born Mgr Vincent Nichols, currently general secretary of the bishops' conference of England and Wales, has been named as an auxiliary bishop in Westminster.
45-year old Mgr Nichols fills the vacancy created by the
retirement of Bishop Philip Harvey who stepped down last year. The new bishop will be responsible for the northern area consisting of Barnet, Brent, Enfield, Haringey and Harrow.
Mgr Nichols will be installed on January 24.
