The Queen at Vatican

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN . . .
Catholics throughout the British Commonwealth will offer this prayer for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth with the greatest loyalty and affection because of her known respect for and appreciation of the Faith of the more than 20,000.000 Catholics who now become her subjects.
Her Majesty demonstrated her feelings when on April 13 last year, with her husband, she paid a State visit to the Holy Father.
There had been some opposition to this visit, but the new Queen went, following in the footsteps of King George V, who on a similar visit with Queen Mary assured Pope Pius XI that he had no more loyal subjects that the Catholics of the Commonwealth.
For an hour and a half the Queen and the Duke conversed with His Holiness in his private library The royal visitors afterwards spent a full hour going through the historic halls and rooms of the Vatican Palace, meeting senior members of the Papal Secretariat of State and the Papal Court, and cheered heartily en route by priests and students of the English, Scots, Beda and Canadian Colleges.
This was the fifth visit of British royalty to the Vatican sincethe Reformation.
First to go was King Edward VII, to meet Pope Leo XIII. King Edward VIII—the Duke-of Windsor, then Prince of Wales—was received by Pope Benedict XV. Princess Margaret met -the present Holy Father three years ago.
