Two thousand people attended the Solemn Requiem for Cardinal Griffin sung by Canon McMullan at Middlesbrough Cathedral last week. Forty priests attended, and among the congregation were the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress. Alderman and Mrs. Manton, the Deputy Mayor, Alderman Burton, and Alderman and Mrs. T. Meehan. The Bishop also arranged for Solemn Requiem Masses in the evening at Hull and York.
