IT WAS interesting to read Eddie Linden's personal perspective of

the Catholic CND story (October 24). For the record I would like to correct a couple of factual points. First of all, that Pax was actually founded in 1936 (which is why its golden jubilee will be celebrated on November 8).
Secondly, that Pax Christi's first office was rented in 1972 at the Peace News building in Caledonian Road; we moved to St Dominic's in 1974.
During the years when Eddie Linden says it "refused to have any association with the peace movement" the small Pax Christi group was already promoting international exchanges and pilgrimages for young people, holding discussion meetings on Pacem in Terris, taking up Paul VI's new 'Peace Sunday' initiative, joining protests against the Nigeria-Biafra and Vietnam wars, and planning other events alongside Pax and Christian CND.
If there had not already been this close association, the Pax-Pax Christi merger could not have happened.
