I he Salvation Army has its first woman leader in Scotland for 10(.1 years. She is Commissioner Eva Burrows, who becomes the youngest commissioner in the Army. She is one of the few women Salvationists to attain a top position of leadership.
The Anglican Bishop of Fulham and Gibraltar will represent the Archbishop of Canterbury at tomorrow's consecration of the Old Catholic Bishop of Deventer in the Netherlands.
Preparation for the National Pastoral Congress is gathering momentum in Plymouth, where there has been an increase in thc number or meetings and activities. A two-hour local radio programme hosted every Sunday by Fr Cornish of the Holy Family parish was given over to a discussion of the Congress recently.
'The 17th international exhibition of art by the mentally handicapped is now on at Lufthansa, 23-28 Piccadilly, London WI. It closes on December 15.
More than 400 certificates for GCE 'A and '0' level passes were presented this week to pupils and past pupils of St Aloysius College, north London. A special presentation of the s:ertificates Yi.a.% made at Islington Town Hall last Tuesday to mark the centenary of the school, and involved pupils who sat examinations in the two years nearest the anniversary. The certificates and prizes were presented by Gabriel Manley, who is the oldest past pupil of the school and has been a school governor since 1950.

The parish of Christ the King. ('ockfosters has raised more than £4,000 for a Cafod project in Ghana. which has irrigated land in a village affected by drought. Their Lent jar of pennies saving scheme yielded i2.0110.
An ecumenical Service of Intercession on behalf of the American hostages in Teheran will be held in the Farm Street Church, London W 1 on Sunday at 5 pm. It will be led by Fr Peter Blake Si.
