Dom Victor re-elected Benedictine president

THE ABBOT of Worth. Dom Victor Farwell. has been elected as Abbot President of the English Benedictine Congregation for a further four-year term.
Abbot Victor was first elected President on February 2, 1967. at an extraordinary general chapter, filling the vacancy left by the elevation of Abbot Christopher Butler of Downside to the episcopate. He was re-elected at ordinary general chapters in 1969.
1973 and 1977.
Last month, Abbot Victor was re-elected as Abbot of Worth. He became Prior of Worth in 1957. when it became independent of Downside Abbey. and first Abbot of Worth in 1965. He is chairman of the Union of Monastic Superiors of Great Britain.
The General Chapter of the EBC met at Downside Abbey from July 26 to 29.
