DEAR Children,—Do you find the Easter holidays rather difficult? We do because there is never any time to really start doing anything before it is time for school to start again.
We live in London, so we go. down to the country in the car sometimes for the day. If it isnt raining—which it often is at this time of the year—we have a lovely time except when we go into the wrong fields. I have drawn a picture of what happens then.
If this should happen to you, don't forget that the field you are in really belongs to the bull and not to you. He is probably used to 'careless town people who leave his gate open and he has decided to turn you out before ou do the same, It is safer to ask the farmer what sort of animals he has in his fields and whether they are used to strangers. And if you have a dog with you. remember that cows will naturally try to drive him out of their fietd.
Book for you THERE are always wet days. though, in the town or in'the country, so here is news of a book we all enjoyed very much. It -is the story of a brother and sister who go 10 spend their summer holidays in lreland with their aunt.
If you happen to live in Ireland it will all seem quite familiar to %'ou, I expect, but we found all the descriptions of the country and caves and " tinkers " a,c cxciting as the story which is about hidden treasure.
There was only one thing about the book which annoyed us. The
author has called the two chitdren in it Edmund and Emily. and we kept on getting muddled about which was which because their names sounded so alike. The '' hook is called ' The Stranger." It is by Stella Weaver and it is published by Collins.
Trouble for (10q8 1ff" dog, who sends you his .LT_L. best love, wants me to tell you that one day when he went for a walk by himself in the country he got his paw caught in a wire snare someone had put down for catching rabbits. He says that London dogs should be taken great care of by their owners in the country. And I say that if you have a country dog. be specially careful of him if you take him into a town because. although he may he used to cows, he will he terribly frightened of cars.
_1 gjynildiuiia ON Easter Monday we are going to a gymkhana. We arc no good at riding ourselves because ". we always fall off. hut I expect that some of you will actually be riding in gymkhanas on that day. We all hope you have a iremendous success; and, while we are about it. did you know that one of the patron saints of horses is St. George?
