Deaf boys are grateful

By HELEN BREEN
AHOME for deaf boys near Beirut, Lebanon, recently received a big present from England's Catholic Women's League -a Volkswagen Microbus. (See above.) Fr. Ronald S. Roberts. the English priest who runs the home, plans to take the boys out in the bus to places of historical and educational interest. He will also use it as an emergency ambulance when someone needs a quick trip to the doctor or the hospital in Beirut,
Le Foyer des Malades in Harissa, high in the mountains overlooking Beirut. is one of the few homes for handicapped children in the Middle East.
Fr. Roberts teaches his boys to lip read and to speak. Powerful equipment supplied by Oxfam helps them feel the virbrations of sound. When the boys are 18 they will go home to mountain villages, some to their families' tents, able to communicate with their people.
In the meantime, they are competing with each other for the privilege of cleaning their new Microbus.
