More delegates plea

BISHOP Thomas Holland of Salford this week made an urgent appeal for more people to enlist as delegates to the International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Lourdes in July.
Lamenting the fact that only a few hundred people had so far applied to go, Bishop Holland said: "The accredited agencies have laid on transport and the central committee in Lourdes has set aside accommodation for our full quota of 2000 from England and Wales.
"Are we to join the Holy Father well under strength? I appeal urgently for an all-out effort. We can't hold on to planes, trains and rooms indefinitely."
Bishop Holland is the national delegate for England and Wales. He and other congress organisers are to meet with the various agencies next Thursday to discuss the situation.
The organisers in Lourdes have already said that they must know by the middle of May.
