CATHOLIC HERALD REPORTER THE Hierarchy of England and Wales have this week given a cheque for £5.000 towards the £300,000 needed by the Catholic Radio and Television Centre at Hatch End.
This donation brings the total so far received to £45,000. Aim of the fund is to enable Fr. Agnellus Andrew, O.F.M. Director of the Centre, to build, equip and run a Catholic radio and television studio with two aims: First: To provide radio and television programmes for the BBC and ITA companies in Britain; Second: To make recordings. tapes, and educational films for use by missionaries, radio and TV companies in the developing countries.
Apart from a £1,650 gift (proceeds of a sale at Sothehys) most of the money raised so far has come through the operating of a fundraising scheme in several dioceses. It is planned to extend this to the whole country.
