Zaire ends control of Catholic schools

The government of Zaire has decided to return Catholic schools to the communities and organisations that conducted them until the state took control of them in December 1974, Vatican Radio said this week.
The Zaire government informed Bishop Albert Yungu of Tshumbe, president of the Zairean Bishops Conference. of its decision, saying that it is searching for new forms of collaboration and that the return of the schools to their original directors was a step in that direction.
