Stars gather for launch of homeless centre appeal
CARDINAL. Cormac MurphyO'Connor has praised the "extraordinarily important" work of the Cardinal Hume Centre in caring for the needs of the homeless in central London.
He was speaking at the launch of the Cardinal Hume Centre's 20th Anniversary appeal held in Westminster on Monday, April 24. The Appeal is seeking to raise £500,000 a year to increase the range of services the centre provides to homeless people and to maximise the use of its facilities.
"The Cardinal Hume Centre is a shining example of the dedication of Christian people to help those in need," said the Cardinal.
The launch was held at the invitation of the patrons of the Cardinal Hume Centre: Lord Guthrie, Abbot Christopher Jamison and Jeremy Paxman.
