ANOTHER YEAR, another papal plug for the Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari.
For the second year running, Pope Benedict XVI has blessed a fleet of Ferraris parked in St Peter's square. Members of the Rome Passion Ferrari Club waved to the
Pontiff as he greeted them at the end of his Regina Coeli prayer at the Vatican on April 30.
The Pope's gesture is undoubtedly good news for Ferrari. John Allen, chief executive of the British unit of Interbrand, a global branding consultancy, said that being associated with the Pope is worth at least 100 times more than an A-list celebrity endorsement because the Pontiff has the most devoted following.
