BRUGES HONOURS FRANK BRANGWYN
Honorary Citizenship
A continent5I boat train arriving at Victoria Station last week brought to England a quartette of prominent civic representatives from Bruges. These were: the Burgomaster, Senator Victor van Hoestenbergh; the Town Clerk, Dr. Antoine Delva; and two Aldermen, Messieurs Joseph Vievin and Maurice Guens. The purpose of their visit was to take to Mr. Frank Brangwyn, R.A., at his home at Ditchling, a scroll of honour from the city of Bruges, his birthplace, recording his election as an honorary citizen.
Mr. Brangwyn received also from the delegation a message conveying the city's thanks to him for his recent gift of pictures, now in the Brangwyn Museum. IIIhealth prevented the artist, who is now in his seventieth year, from being present at the opening ceremony.
