CONGRATULATIONS to Finchley Catholic High School (known for many years as "Finchley Grammar School") on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee. The present headmaster, Mr S Szemerenyi, right, was present with 600 boys at the recent Mass of thanksgiving celebrated by Cardinal Basil Hume OSB in Westminster Cathedral.
Head of music at the school, Mr John Turner composed special music for the Mass for the school choir and orchestra. The Mass was held on the Feast of' St Alban, England's first martyr.
Canon Parsons was the first headmaster of Finchley Grammar, and it became the foremost Catholic school in north-west London, producing, in its short history, priests, parliamentarians, academics, lawyers, businessmen, teachers, doctors and sportsmen. Long may it flourish, and with it all Albanians!
