African cleric forms rebel sect

AN AFRICAN cleric with ties to the excommunicated Archbishop Emmanuel KlingĀ° has announced the formation of a new sect, known as the Catholic Apostolic National Church of Zambia.
"We feel duty-bound now to found our own Catholic Church," said Luciano Mbewe, a former Catholic priest who now identifies himself as an archbishop. Launching an attack on clerical celibacy, he said that the new group would allow priests to marry, according to Catholic World News. Archbishop Milingo, who comes from Zambia, was excommunicated in September 2006 after he directly defied Vatican orders and ordained four married men as bishops.
