How Irish missionary priests in Korea, held by the Japanese for three months, were freed and told they could go back to their parishes as free men as their country was neutral, is told in the American periodical Far East: "On December 8, 1941, the missionary priests in Korea were arrested. At the beginning of March our Irish priests were marched out, down to the police station, and told they were free men.
