CATHOLIC LITERATURE CRUSADE

SIR,-The letter in your last issue from "Catholic Bookseller," calling attention to the growth of Comrpunist bookshops all over the country and suggesting that it is time that Catholics awoke to the possibilities in this field, is very opportune.
It is only too true that while Catholic principles provide the solution to the moral and social problems of the day, the general public has little chance of hearing about them, Not only are many Catholic books virtually boycotted in ordinary bookshops, but Catholic bookshops themselves are very few indeed. Again, what constructive Catholic action is being taken to offset the harm done by sonic of the very popular twopenny lending libraries?
The time has surely come for launching a Catholic literature crusade, something, perhaps, on the vigorous lines followed by the Communists, with Catholic bookshops and libraries in readily accessible areas, bringing Catholic books to the people. If " Catholic Bookseller " and others interested in this apostolate would care to get in touch with the undersigned, perhaps ideas could be exchanged.
