CHINESE SUPPORT FOR A.EF.
The Society for the Propagation of the Faith has made remarkable progress on the island of Hainan, according to latest reports. Although there are only about 3,000 Catholics in the Prefecture Apostolic of Hainain, more than £150 to its work has been confributed by the natives. A gift of £25 from a foreigner residing at Hainan has raised the total to £209,.
The Society was organized in tffe prefecture only a year ago. It is particularly noteworthy that the children, despite their meagre possessions, have been most generohs and self-sacrificing. Among the adults, those who could not contribute cash, gave donations in kind. With the approbation of Mgr. Dominique Desperben, C.SS.CC., Prefect Apostolic, prayers for the members of the Society have been added to the customary evening prayers. In some instances, particularly in rural sections, every member of the family is enrolled in the Society.
