THE POPE CALLS ON Sir MARCUS

PG PE JOHN went to the
Sanatrix Clinic on the outskirts of Rome on Sunday evening to visit Sir Marcus Cheke, British Minister to the Holy See who has been a patient there for the past two months.
Accompanied only by his secretary, Mgr. Capovilla. the Pope went to the envoy's bedside and spoke with him for several minutes.
Sir Marcus Cheke, Minister to the Holy See since 1957, is not a Catholic. Doctors say that his heart condition does not at present permit an operation to discover the exact nature of his illness.
While at the hospital the Pope called on some other friends who are patients there, spoke to the nursing sisters and visited the clinic chapel.
