ST John's Day celebrations at Wonersh Seminary on Tuesday dominates the Bishops' Diaries this week.
Two of the bishops will be away all week. Bishop David Konstant of Leeds will he in Rome, while Bishop Alan Clark of East Anglia attends the World Council of Churches Working Party in Paris.
As always education and the sick are matters for bishops' concern. Bishop Mervyn Alexander of Clifton will visit the Holy Family Primary School at Patchway at Ilam on Thursday. Bishop Leo McCartie, auxiliary in Birmingham, goes on Monday at 9.30am to Our Lady's School, Maryvale. On Wednesday he will visit St Francis School, Handsworth at 9.15 am before meeting the sick of that parish. At 10am on Friday he will call at St Joseph's School and parish, Nechells.
The seminarians at Oscott College will meet Bishop McCartie on Saturday.Bishop James O'Brien auxiliary in Hertfordshire along with Bishop Augustine Harris of Middlesbrough will meet sixth formers at St Mary's College on Thursday and Friday morning.
Lay involvement is to the fore. Bishop John Crowley, auxiliary for Westminster, commissions Eucharistic Ministers at More House on Thursday at 5.30pm and Bishop Patrick Kelly of Salford joins the readers of his diocese for a celebration at 2.30pm on Saturday.
A golden wedding and the induction of a parish priest will be celebrated on Saturday by Bishop Howard Tripp auxiliary in Southwark. He will say Mass for the Rileys at St John Fisher, Merton at noon, and that evening at 7pm will induct Fr Gregory Moore as parish priest at Newington.
Archbishop Derek Worlock of Liverpool will make a TV recording for Highway at Ushaw College on Wednesday at noon.
