MPs to hear pro-life appeal

By Citra Sidhu
ONI. OF Britain's leading prolife groups has issued a booklet explaining why a mass lobby of Parliament against euthanasia is necessary and countering suggestions that it will undermine anti-euthanasia legislation currently before MPs.
In a 15-page "briefing", the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (Spuc) argues that a mass lobby planned for early April will enable people to "find out your MP's views and to urge him or her to oppose euthanasia."
Last month, Ann Winterton, sponsor of the Medical Treatment (Prevention of Euthanasia) Bill, which goes to Report Stage on April 14. rejected the mass lobby and called instead for a "sustained and local lobby" of MPs.
The Spi: booklet briefs members on a range of life issues, including the BMA's recent guidance on withdrawing and withholding food and fluids and the Government's approval of proposals that would allow medical attorneys to order doctors to withhold food, fluid and necessary medical treatment.
The booklet says: "This mass lobby is your chance to find out your MP's views and to urge him or her to oppose euthanasia."
