BISHOP Hugh Lindsay of Hexham and Newcastle will be attending a course on AIDS at Ushaw College, Durham on Tuesday. With similar health concerns in mind, Archbishop Derek Worlock of Liverpool will be saying Mass for the disabled at his cathedral on Sunday at 3pm, and visitng the Alderhay Hospital in the city on Wednesday at 2.30pm.
In ecumenical mood, Bishop John Rawsthorne, auxiliary in Liverpool, will meet with other church leaders on Friday at the Merseyside and Region Churches' Ecumenical Assembly. Bishop Thomas McMahon of Brentwood will address the Redbridge Council of Christians and Jews at St Teresa's Church, Newbury Park on Thursday at 8pm, while Bishop James McGuinness of Nottingham will attend the enthronement of the Anglican Bishop of Southwell on Saturday at 1 lam.
Denis Labourette will be ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Maurice Couve de Murville on Friday at St Marie's, Rugby at 1 lam. Martin Devenish will be similarly honoured by Bishop David Konstant of Leeds at St Urban's Leeds at I lam on Saturday. Fr John McNamee will be inducted as parish priest of Rossington on Tuesday by Bishop Gerald Moverley of Hallam. Bishop Mervyn Alexander of Clifton will officiate at ordinations at Prinknash Abbey on Saturday.
Archbishop Michael Bowen of Southwark will celebrate a Mass for Ghanians at his cathedral next Sunday, while his auxiliary, Bishop John Jukes will be addressing the Ecumenical Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Canterbury on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
