Sinister influence in the B.B.C.

'f Catholic Herald" Reporter
BY an odd coincidence, the question of Catholic influence in the BBC was raised both in last week's issue of the " New Statesman and Nation," and in the correspondence column of the "Observer" on Sunday.
The similarity between the insinuations appearing in each of them makes it difficult to believe that these do not emanate from the same source.
They appear in the "New Statesman" as part of a regular, unsigned "diary" feature. The letter to the "Observer," however. is signed by Mrs. Margaret Knight, lecturer in psychology at Aberdeen University, who. it may be recalled, gave a widely-publicised series of broadcasts on "Morals Without Reli gion" in January, 1955.
It should be pointed out that Mrs. Knights letter cannot be understood as necessarily reflecting the views of the "Observer."
After making it clear that she does not object to the broadcasting of Catholic programmes, Mrs. Knight points to the "disparity" between the amount of time allotted to them, and what she calls the "rigorous discrimination" against Humanism.
