Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor to open World Youth Congress
CARDINAL Cormac Murphy-O'Connor will open the week-long World Youth Congress in June 2008, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 young Christians and members of other faiths, it has emerged.
The conference, which will take place at Liverpool Hope University, will see contributions from renowned speakers and academics, with delegates invited from across the globe. It will address issues such as international development, law and human rights, business, the environment and sustainable development, education and culture. Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor will open the conference, entitled "The Big Hope", with a service at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. There will also be social events and excursions and some delegates will be involved in projects working with the young people of Merseyside.
