Wait and see

The Holy See is adopting a waiting policy in regard to the new three-party coalition government in Italy. Headed by Christian Democrat Amintore Fanfani, and including Social Democrats and Republicans, it will have to govern with the support of Signor Nenni's Socialist Party. The position has been criticised by Cardinal Otteviani of the Iloly Office.
