I WAS DELIGHTP.D that Christina White came to do a Parish in Focus on our church, coinciding also with the Society of Jesus having to leave (Catholic Herald, 19 July). The article, like all her articles> was very good, but 1 would like to correct what a colleague of mine was thought to have said.
We Jesuits do not undertake a special training for hearing confessions. The "Ad Auds" exams mentioned is what all students for the priesthood have to sit. Therefore we make no claim to "skilfull treatment". We are no better or worse than any other priests in the administering of the sacrament of Reconciliation.
