DESPITE the apparent reconciliation between Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu PF party and Joshua Nkomo's Zapu party unidentified rebels last week killed a German Catholic priest and injured another at a mission school in south western Zimbabwe near the border with Botswana.
The killing came the day after President Robert Mugabe declared an amnesty for rebels who have waged war against the government since 1982.
Br Killian Knoerl, who had served with the Marianhill Order in Zimbabwe for 28 years, was shot dead when he tried to defend the head of the mission from the four-member gang.
The attack follows the Novermber 28 killing of 16 Protestant missionaries
