Call for rethink on women priests

ST JOAN'S International Alliance has asked the Vatican's Doctrinal Congregation to re-examine "as a matter of urgency" its recent declaration that the Church cannot ordain women to the priesthood. The request came after a resolution was passed by the alliance, a 66-year-old organisation promoting equality of the sexes, during its annual meeting at Oxford recently.
The resolution said that "many of the arguments on which the declaration is based have been refuted by theologians and Scripture experts, including the Pontifical Biblical Commission."
