RISBOROUGH The New Church

Memories are short. an& many even among the regular readers of the Catholic Herald may have forgotten how the priest at Princes Risborough, Fr. F. M. Dreves, S.S.J., made devotion to the Little Flower a venture of faith in connection with the provision of a new church for his parish, and was rewarded by an opportune benefactor. That new church is now in course of construction; it had its stone-laying, last week, at the hands of the 13khop of Northampton, and the congregation look forward to the day when they will be able to assist at the opening ceremony.
The present place of worship at Princes Risborough is a temporary iron structure in Longwick Road. The new church has a corner site on the Aylesbury Road, an important position. White reinforced concrete is the main material being employed by the architect, Dr. Rinvolucri, who has planned a building in the modern Byzantine style, crowned by a central dome. The seating accommodation will be for about 250 persons.
Since his consecration as Bishop of Northampton, in 1933, Mgr. Youens has laid four foundation-stones in Buckinghamshire. It was only a few weeks ago that his Lordship opened the new church at Aylesbury, the county town.
