Pope on road to Morocco

THE POI'E will close the 43rd International Eucharistic Congress in Nairobi, Kenya on August 18, before making a oneday visit to Morocco and flying back to Rome, it has been officially announced.
While in Kenya, Pope John Paul will also bless the chapel and library of the Catholic Higher Institutes of Eastern Africa, the ness papal university, opened last year. II is one of only two Catholic universities in Anglophone Africa, the other being in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
The itinerary for the twelveday trip includes three days in Cameroon with a visit to the predominantly Moslem northern archdiocese of Cursive. The Pope will also spend three days in Zaire, half of whose population is Catholic.
%Vitae there, he will beatify Sr Anuarite, an African nun, killed in the violence after Zaire was granted independence from Belgium in 1960.
Three days of the papal trip will be taken up visiting Kenya's three million Catholics. These will be the final three days of the Eucharist Congress, the first ever to be held in black Africa, which will last from August 11 to 18.
The full schedule of the seven country tour is: August 8-10 Togo.
August 10 Ivory Coast. August 10-14 Cameroon. August 14 Central African Republic.
August 14-16 Zaire.
August 16-19 Kenya.
August 19 Morocco and return.
