Duchess of Kent adds Royal touch to Lourdes

THE DUCHESS of Kent consummated her embracing of Catholicism this week by undertaking a prayerful pilgrimage to Lourdes. The Duchess, who was received into the Church last yearby Cardinal Basil Hume making her the most senior member of the Royal Family to become a Catholic last Sunday joined more than 600 other pilgrims from the Westminster diocese on a charter flight with Catholic tour operator Tangney Tours, for the week long gathering of reflection and prayer for the sick. There was no special treatment for the Royal pilgrim, according to reports from the Shrine. She worked shifts at the hospital of Marie Saint Frai where, alongside seven other pilgrims, she looked after 20 patients, some terminally ill. She handed out water bottles to the pilgrims
