TUNNEY ATTACKED BY FR. COUGHLIN'S PAPER

Committee To Combat Anti-Semitism
The formation of a Catholic Committee to oombat Anti-Semitism has caused soreness in the editorial office 'of " Radio Priest " Fr. Coughlin's paper, Social Justice.
of boring from within, which impress upon us the modern application of Christ's parable relative to wolves in sheep's clothing.'
On another page is an attack on Gene Tunney, former world heavyweight champion, who is a member of the Committee to Combat Anti-Semitism.
" Son, Come On Back "
" Poor old Gene," says the article, " he Is certainly contributing nothing more than a Boy Scout reaction. And to cap the climax he is grabbing off that good old name of ' Catholic ' to establish a committee against anti-Semitism.
" Gene has been a clean fighter and a clean physical liver. But I am sorry that all this unfavourable publicity has put him in the wrong corner, where people without scruples are using him to waste his strength.
" It might be well if Gene would beg an hour off from Jerome Frank, spend it in conversation with some good oldfashioned priest; some fatherly old gentleman who would put his arm around Gene's shoulder and whisper to him : ' Son, come on back where you belong. Get up before the bell strikes ten because the old world is looking for your come-back.'
The article is written by one who describes himself as " only a cub reporter."
No mention is made of other members of the committee against anti-Semitism : Mgr. John Ryan, of the Catholic University of America, Dorothy Day, Philip Burnham, editor of Commonweal, Professor E. Chapman, of Fordharn Catholic University in New York, William Callahan, managing editor of the Catholic Worker.
