Fr John Horace William Birch has died aged 77. He trained for the Priesthood at the Bede College in Rome and Kipalala Seminary, Tanzania. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam on the 23rd March 1952. Eight years later he was incardinated into the Diocese of Portsmouth. Father Birch's first appointment was as Assistant Priest at Christ the King, Bitterne and then Assistant to St Swithun's In Southsea
Rev Father Thomas L Collinson, S.D.B., M.M. has died aged 94. He was the oldest member of the English Salesian Province. Fr Collinson, who was born in Salford, Lanes, came to the Salesians at Battersea as an aspirant at the beginning of the First World War. Called up for active service In the army in 1917 he was awarded the Military Medal. Soon after the conclusion of hostilities, he returned to Battersea to resume his studies, and, in September 1919, began his novitiate at Burwash, Sussex. Four of his erstwhile companions at Battersea — all of whom eventually became priests — made their novitiate with him.
He made his first religious profession at Burwash In 1920, and was perpetually professed at Cowley Oxford) on the feast of the Immaculate Conception 1923.
Canon Anthony Llewhellin has died aged 53. He was born in Southsea. He trained for the Priesthood at St Edmund's Seminary, Ware, Hertfordshire and was Ordained a Priest on the 5th June 1955. Canon Llewhellin was first appointed to St Joseph's, Guernsey for eight years, he then moved as the assistant priest In St John Bosco, Woodley. After serving three years in Woodley Canon Llewhellin moved back to Guernsey for a further five years in St Joseph's Parish.
Fr Terence O'Pacenalm AA has died aged 83. Born in Dublin Fr Terence Joined the Augustinians of the Assumption in 1918. He completed his studies at Louvain and was ordained In Dublin in 1926. Appointed to St Michael's College, Hitchln, he taught Spanish and later served as Bursar until 1943. Though of a reserved nature he was greatly esteemed by pupils and parents. He served as Provincial Bursar from 1946 until his death. From 1948 to 1951 he was Superior at the Assumptionist Study House near Redhill. After serving as Assistant at Newhaven and RIckmansworth he returned to Hitchin In 1067 where he continued his work as bursar and faithfully served as Chaplain to Roxley Court Convent, Willlan.
