Cardinal Frings For Cardinal Flings, Archbishop of Cologne—Friday, September 27: in company with the Bishop of Nottingham visits Norton Camp, Cuckney, Mansfield, where be will see German prisoner of war priests in retreat. Saturday, September 28: Returns to Westminster. Sunday, September 29: Will preside at Solemn High Mass at Westminster Cathedral at 10.30 am.; afternoon—in company with Cardinal Griffin visits prisoner of war camps. Monday, September 30: Will meet members of the Hierarchy in the evening at Archbishop's House, Westminster. His Eminence will depart on Tuesday, October 1.

APPOINTMENTS New Jesuit Curia The General Congregation of the Society of Jesus has elected the following as Assistants to Father General. The Very Rev. John Hannon, Si., of the Irish Province has been elected Assistant for England, Ireland, Belgium and Canada. He will be known as the English Assistant. The Very Rev. Vincent McCormick, Si., has been elected Assistant for America, Fr. McCormick is a member of the New York Province. The Very Rev. Peter van Geste], Si., of the Dutch Province has been elected Assistant for Germany. The Very Rev, Thomas Travis, 5.3., Provincial of tbe Argentine Province has been elected Assistant for

ANNOUNCEMENTS Travelling Mission The centres to be visited this weekend by the Southwark Travelling Mission are: Shorne, parish of Gravesend, Kent. The Fathers of the Company of Mary (Montfort Fathers) have acquired a house and estate at Church Stretton (near Shrewsbury), Shropshire, to serve for their senior scholasticate.
Beds Association The 21st annual general meeting of the Beda Association will be held in London on Tuesday, October 1, 1946. Pontifical High Mass will be sung by Mgr. Duchemin, Protonotary Apostolic, Rector of the Bede College, at the Oratory, Brampton Road, at 11 a.m.
Metropolitan Teachers The quarterly meeting of the Metropolitan Catholic Teachers' Association, membership of which is now nearly 1,200, took place on Friday fast at Westminster Cathedral Hall.
Radio News Sunday Half-hour: On the Light programme next Sunday, September 29 (at 9 p.m.) the broadcast in this series will .come from the Franciscan Monastery at Gorton, Manchester.
Gaelic League The opening of a new branch of the Gaelic League at Huddersfield was reported at a gathering of delegates from Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, at Liverpool, for the regional council meeting. Another branch will shortly be opened at Preston.

Proposing the adoption of the Report, Mgr. Lee said that the Society was called upon, during the past year, to deal with a far greater number of cases than ever before, and now had 734 children in its care.
Guide Guild The Catholic Guide Guild of Westminster, Southwark and Brentwood has held a Guiders' camp at Cudham, Kent, during September. Mass was said on the site by Fr. Proctor, one of the Guild chaplains. A Guiders' hike and a Patrol-leaders' Way of Recollection are being arranged for Octo
