MYRON TAYLOR'S MISSION Reports on Pope's Work for Peace

Myron C. Taylor, President Roosevelt's personal representative at the Vatican, and Mrs. Taylor, arrived home aboard the American Export liner Excalibur, on Sept. 6.
Saying he felt tine and that he is recovering satisfactorily from his recent serious operation, Mr. Taylor told reporters that he had a 90-minuic audience with Pope Pius XII before leaving Rome, but said he would discuss the nature of the conversation only with President Roosevelt.
Subsequently Mr. Taylor had a three-hour conference with President Roosevelt, and Mr. Stephen T. Early, the President's secretary, issued the following statement: " Mr. Taylor came to lunch and gave the President a complete report. The message that Mr. Taylor brought the President from the Pope had the effect of this, in the President's words: ` The Vatican is doing everything it possibly can to bring about world peace.'" Speaking in German in a programme for Germany, the Vatican Radio denied the rumours that the withdrawal of Mr. Taylor signified an end of American diplomatic representation at the Vatican. It was also denied that Mr. Taylor was bearing a peace offer to President Roosevelt.
