From Mr Anthony McGinty SIR — James MacMillan ends his
superb article by asking a question which he had already answered: the abolitionists and the hijackers are one and the same. Why they were allowed to get away with what they did, particus larly with regard to the music for the Mass, is an unfathomable mystery.
There are now many groups of young people providing reverent and dignified music for the Mass. The re-introduction of traditional liturgical music must be done in a manner whereby these talented youngsters are included. They must not feel the same sense of alienation that so many of us felt in the Sixties.
Yours faithfully, ANTHONY McGINTY Bearsden, Glasgow
