Bishops busy in honour of Campion
ENGLISH bishops will be busy on Tuesday celebrating the 400th anniversary of the martrrdom of Saints Edmund Campion. Ralph Sherwin and Alexander Briant.
Cardinal Hume and Bishop Emery of Portsmouth will say Mass at 12 noon at Campion House, Osterley, Middlesex, the Jesuit house. At Tyburn, the spot of their martyrdom, Bishop Konstant, Bishop in Central London and Bishop Clark will say Mass at 10am at the convent of the Adorers of the Sacred Heart. Bishop Murphy-O-Connor will preach. At St Ignatius's school, Enfield, Bishop Harvey. Bishop in North London will say Mass at 10am.
In Southwark diocese a Mass for the martyrs will be said by Bishop Tripp in Balham at 6.30pm on Tuesday.
In Derby, in the county of Ralph Sherwin's birth. which has a school dedicated to him a Mass will be said at 10am on Tuesday by Bishop McGuinness of Nottingham with a sermon by Bishop Brewer is the great hall of the assembly rooms in the city. At St Ralph Sherwin school a special drama and concert will be staged at 7.3tlpm.
In Birmingham diocese, Bishop Cleary will say Mass at St Edmund ('ampion school, Wolverhampton, at 2.30pm.
St Edmund ('ampion is the dedication of a new church to he opened by Bishop Emery at Strouden near Bournemouth, on Monday.
At Wrekenton in Hexham and Newcastle diocese Bishop Lindsay is to say Mass in St Edmund Campion school at I lam on Tuesday.
Bishop O'Connor, Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool will visit Campion School, Liverpool for Mass at 2pm on Tuesday. In Leeds, Bishop Wheeler says Mass at the school of the same name on the same day at 10.30am.
