The Pope received in audience last week-end the new Chilean Ambassador to the Holy See, Sr. Alberto Cumming, for the presentation of his credential letters. Japan's first post-war Minister to the Holy See, Mr. Takajiro Inoue, also presented his credentials this week.
Suicide at St. Peter's
A widow, 49-year-old Annunziata Pignotte took her own life on Tuesday by leaping down the 100-foot lift shaft which leads to the dome of St. Peter's, Rome, Basilica. The lift shaft is outside the basilica itself and St. Peter's will therefore not have to be reconsceraied.
