Bowen at Gonzi funeral

ARCHBISHOP Michael Bowen of Southwark represented the hierarchy of England and Wales at the funeral of Archbishop Sir Michael Gonzi, Archbishop Emeritus of Malta, on Tuesday.
Before he left, Archbishop Bowen paid tribute to Archbishop Gonzi's help to British servicemen stationed in Malta during the Second World War.
Archbishop Gonzi, who dies on Sunday at the age of 98, was Archbishop of Malta for 33 years; from 1944 to 19Th. He was the first to be elevated to that rank. He was also the first Catholic prelate to receive a British knighthood.
