Bishop saves Sudan priest

ASUDANESE BISHOP living in exile in Northern Uganda persuaded gunmen this week to release a Catholic priest they had kidnapped.
Fr Dawa's release was announced by the secretary of the diocese of Gulu, which includes the territory Just south of the Sudanese border.
This is not the first time that priests in Uganda have fallen foul of the guerillas. Many Catholics, especially those in religious orders, have been outspoken in their criticism of terrorist activity.
Bishop Paride Taban of Tent, Sudan, walked over 20 miles into the Ugandan bush to find the rebels and then convince them to release Fr Richard Dawa, Fr Dawn had been staying in Pakelle, where the Sudanese bishop had been staying.
Fr Dawa was kidnapped along with three nuns and a female student. They were released shortly after their capture.
A Ugandan soldier was killed as he tried to foil the kidnapping. attempt.
