Laity consulted on spiritual renewal

CARDINAL Cormac Murphy-O'Connor is attempting to gauge the opinion of the laity on the subject of renewal in the Catholic Church.
Ile has issued a pamphlet asking the faithful to contribute their views to the discussion of "a plan for our future spiritual and pastoral renewal" in the Archdiocese of Westminister.
This discussion has been inspired and guided by the two-year-old document written by Pope John Paul II entitled Novo Millennio Ineunte (At the Beginning of the New Millennium), which sets out the vision of the Church in the years to come, and speaks about what must be done in the way of pastoral initiatives, with heavy emphasis on the role of prayer. "Your participation in this process ij essential," Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor says in the document, called At Your Word, Lord "With this in mind I wish to invite you to make known to me or to your priest how we best develop the Gospel values in our society and become better witnesses to Christ among the people with whom we live and work."
The pamphlets ask churchgoers whether they agree a process of spiritual renewal is needed, what signs suggest such a need, and what the priorities for renewal should be.
The completed responses must be returned by Friday May 31.
