FR. FRANCIS RIPLEY
The new head of the Catholic Missionary Society In succession to Dr. Dwyer, now Bishop of Leeds, is Fr. F. J. Ripley, the wellknown Lancashire priest who since 1950 has been actively engaged in the missionary and lecturing work of the Society. The great work of the Catholic Enquiry Centre, an enterprise which forms an integral part of the C.M.S., will continue its ever widening activities, and says Fr. Ripley, " I intend to maintain the great traditions established by my predecessors Archbishop Heenan and Bishop Dwyer." Fr. Ripley was burn in St. Helens in 1912. and ordained at Upholland in 1939. During the war he was a Chaplain to the R.A.F.
