The new indigenous Diocese of Guntur, in the ecclesiastical province of Madras, India, has received its first Bishop, Mgr. Thomas, who has taken possession of his See at the Cathedral of Phirangipuram. The district had previously been within the jurisdiction of Mgr. Bouter, Bishop of Nellore, the Church owing its development there to the sixty years of labours of the Mill Hill Fathers, Another Indian diocese has also a new Bishop, Dr. Oubakaraswamy Bernadotte having taken possession of the See of Coimbatore in the ecclesiastical province of Pondicherry.
