DUBLIN.
Last week I attended the Drama Festival at Derry, and saw seventeen plays. The Bishop of Derry, Mgr. 0. Kane, is the sponsor and originator of this annual festival, but was prevented by a touch of illness from attendance.
The Long Tower parish in Derry is the scene of St. Colmcille's own monastery. From it came a company of girls to act Mgr. Benson's " Upper Room," which they did with remarkable beanty. The plays, however, were mainly secular, for the object of the Festival is to encourage wholesome drama in general, as an antidote to other modern amusements and as a means to uplift the culture of our people. Early this year I mentioned the showing in the chief street in Dublin of a film which glorifies adultery, to crowded houses. When I mention that this very same film was shown in the last few days in one of Leinster's biggest towns, almost wholly
