sm.—I have been asked by the family of the late Baron von Hugel and Messrs. J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd., Publishers, to write the life of the Baron. In order that this work may he based upon all the material available I would be most grateful for the loan of any of the Baron's unpublished letters and writings (or copies of them) and for any unpublished information, in the nature of personal reminiscence or otherwise about the Baron's life, thought and conversations which those who knew him may possess. I should be particularly grateful for any information available about the first fifty years of his life. Al] material lent to me will be copied and returned to the sender as soon as possible.
