S.O.S. Committee for Africa

Sir,-1 should like to thank you for your generous mention of the Sword's new "Standing Committee for Africa" on the front page of last week's Coreotic HERALD, and to say how much your encouragement and interest are appreciated. There is, however, one point I should like to make. Ours is not a "Joint Committee" but solely a Catholic one. Discussions last autumn on a fairly wide scale revealed the need for, as well as the advantages of, a specifically Catholic organisation. Dr. Roland Oliver, who is not a Catholic, is therefore not a member of the Committee, although he has shown great interest in its formation and has given much valuable assistance, for which we are exceedingly grateful.
John Biggs-Davison. Chairman Standing Committee for Africa. Sword of the Spirit, 128, Sloane Street, London, S.W.I.
