CANADIAN CARDINAL TO BE AT CONGRESS

Latest to indicate their intention of being present at the Hierarchy Centenary Congress
in London are Cardinal McGuigan. Archbishop of Toronto,
and Mgr. Guilford Young, Auxiliary Bishop of Canberra, Australia.
Both Cardinal McGuigan and Cardinal Griffin were elevated to the Sacred College at the Consistory of 1946.
Cardinal Griffin. as Papal Legate, will he received by the assembled Hierarchy in Westminster Cathedral at 11 o'clock on the morning of Thursday, September 28.
A Solemn Votive Mass of the Blessed Trinity will be sung by Archbishop Godfrey, Apostolic Delegate.
On the following day, feast of St. Michael the Archangel and centenary day of the restoration of the Hierarchy by the Apostolic Letter Universatis Errlesiae, Solemn Pontifical Mass will be sung in St. George's Cathedral, Southwark, by the Archbishop of Liverpool. The Papal Legate will preside at this Mass and will preach.
MGR. KNOX On Sunday, October I (the eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost), the Papal Legate will sing Pontifical Mass in Westminster Cathedral. The sermon will be preached by Mgr. Ronald Knox.
The -Solemn Pontifical Mass in Wembley Stadium will be sung by the Archbishop of Birmingham, in the presence of the Papal Legate.
It is announced that 2.. garden party will be held in the grounds of St. Mary's College, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. on Saturday, September 30 from two o'clock until six.
This event will provide the laity with an opportunity of meeting the Hierarchy together with the visiting Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops.
The band of H.M. Irish Guards will play during the afternoon and Catholic schoolchildren will present a display, refreshments will be available. Tickets, price 2s., are now on sale and may he obtained from parish re presen latives.
